BREATH OF LIFE

A different way into the body

We breathe all day without giving it much thought.

But when we consciously change the way we breathe, we can begin to notice what is happening underneath all the thinking, doing and getting on with things.

The breathwork I facilitate uses conscious connected breathing — a continuous rhythm of breath, guided by my voice and music.

It can be powerful. It can be emotional. It can be incredibly quiet.

And every experience is different.

You don't need to be good at breathing, good at meditation, flexible, spiritual or particularly good at lying still.

You just need to be curious.

What happens in a session?

We don't just arrive and start breathing.

There's time to land first.

Depending on the session, we might begin with gentle movement, cacao, journalling or simply a conversation about what we're going to do and how you're feeling that day.

I'll introduce the breathing pattern and give you time to get comfortable with it before we begin.

You'll usually lie down while I guide you through the breathwork using my voice and music. I'll be there throughout, offering guidance and support while giving you space to have your own experience.

And afterwards, we don't rush.

There's time to rest, notice, perhaps write something down, have a cup of tea or simply sit quietly for a bit.

What might I experience?

This is probably the hardest bit to describe because there isn't really a standard breathwork experience.

You might feel physical sensations in the body. You might feel emotional. You might have memories or thoughts come up. You might laugh. You might cry. You might feel deeply relaxed.

You might spend twenty minutes wondering whether you're doing it properly.

That's allowed too.

I'm less interested in chasing a particular experience and more interested in creating a space where you can listen to what your own body is telling you.

Who is it for?

Breathwork can be for the person who feels as though their head is permanently full.

For someone going through a period of change.

For someone who has become a little disconnected from their body.

For someone curious about themselves.

Or for someone who simply wants to experience what happens when they stop talking for a while and let the breath do some of the work.

You don't need any previous experience.

Ways to work with me

I offer breathwork in small groups, workshops and private sessions.

My private sessions can also include gentle movement and stretching, cacao, journalling, yoga nidra and sound. We don't have to squeeze everything in — we build the session around what you need that day.

Group breathwork

I also facilitate small-group breathwork experiences and can bring breathwork into retreats, gatherings, workplaces and other events.

A note about safety

Conscious connected breathwork can be physically and emotionally activating and isn't suitable for everyone. Before taking part, I'll ask you to complete a short health questionnaire so I can understand whether the practice is appropriate for you.

Certain health conditions, pregnancy and some medications may mean that this particular style of breathwork isn't suitable, or that we use a gentler breathing practice instead.

If you're unsure, please get in touch before booking.

Come and breathe

You don't have to arrive with an intention.

You don't have to know what you want to get from it.

Sometimes being willing to lie down, breathe and see what happens is enough.
