AERIAL YOGA

Hang upside down. Have a laugh.
Do something you didn't think you could.

Glasgow + Biggar

A hammock, a little courage and a different way to move your body.

Aerial yoga class using low-hanging hammocks in a light-filled studio in Biggar, Scotland.

WHAT IS AERIAL YOGA?

Aerial yoga is yoga with a hammock.
Except it’s also not really that simple.

We stretch in it. Lean into it. Hang from it. Wrap ourselves up in it. Use it for strength, balance and support. Sometimes we go upside down.

Sometimes we need strength.
Sometimes we feel floaty.
Sometimes the class makes absolutely no sense until suddenly it does!

You do not need to be bendy. You do not need to be strong. And you absolutely do not need to know what you're doing.

Most people don't when they first come.

That's half the fun.

Never tried it before?

Good.

Most people who come to my beginners classes haven't either.

You don't need upper-body strength.
You don't need to be flexible.
You don't even need to have done yoga before.

We'll start low, take our time and figure the hammock out together.

There will probably be a bit of wobbling.
Possibly some getting tangled.
Definitely some laughing.

And before you know it, you might be upside down thinking...

ohhhh. I CAN do this.
